An old friend visits and an unexpected dressage result
Hi all,
Welcome to another blog albeit yet another long gap inbetween! Mum forgot the password and user name for my page, its a age thing I think, either that or far too much vino which drowns the brain cells you know. Anyhow, how are we all??
We have had an old friend come to stay with us for the last month, Big Bob, I’d never met the chap before, although Percy knew him from long ago, seems he remembered Percy from long ago too and hasn’t spoken a word to him since he has been with us. He has a lasting effect. Anyhow, he is an interesting old boy, great stories of the hunting field in the good old days and its certainly keeps Pippa quiet while she sits and listens to him for hours! He only with us short term as he has had sore legs and our Aunty Karen Coombe has been popping in to keep an eye on him every few days, he is a very good patient. Of course, Percy doesn’t like having his nose pushed out and is STILL coughing, so poor Aunty K cannot get down the yard without Percy asking for her opinion on something or hanging his head over the door gasping for breath…. do you know that he has an inhaler now?? Mum said it was typical that she would end up with the only asmatic horse in the world. He is on steriods so I expect he will end up with Moobs.
Chloe has been a bit of a dark horse it seems, (well, she is grey actually, its just an expression we use) and there was a photo of her in a magazine jumping, must have been in her younger days as she was a darker grey than what she is now, anyhow, P was well impressed and has put a copy on his bedroom wall and even got her to sign it. Pip didn’t mention it as she thinks she is the only page 3 pony at the yard, she has taken to walking round the yard in a pair of Katie Price’s pink fluffy mules, speaking in a loud voice about her agent, that young lady will end up as a centre spread with the staples in her unmentionables if shes not sensible about the jobs she picks! Ruby has got a new trainer, I think she must be a psychologist too as she seems to have conquered her fear of fillers and appears to be quite chilled these days about her jumping, maybe she is taking drugs, I hear there is some Temperlax in the feed room, my mate Lennie used to take that and he was more chilled out than Jimi Hendrix was in the 60’s, powerful stuff that. Poor Brandy got mugged in the field and was left feeling very out of sorts, rumor has it that the Hoody in box 2 had something to do with it, but she is denying everything. Mind you, she is not quite right that one, she stays out all night while the rest of us are tucked up in our straw, me thinks she is up to no good. Pips hunt season has finished and she is brushing up for the show season which is impending and trying to sort out more photo shoots in between times. Our new fella Ryan is just getting over a nasty wound on his leg…. the hoody strikes again…. but has started jumping and some fittening work, he has quite a unique style of jumping and is not for the faint hearted rider, mind you, when he gets to the fence, he pings over like he has springs on his heels, he has given me new inspiration for this year and I’m wondering just how much I can scare my mum. Chloe and Rubes are starting to polish off their tendon boots as the outdoor season is about to start, more news on them next time I hope. Tilly has been out for a spot of combined training and came third in her class which was fab, apparantly she is signing up for a bit of BE this year which is exciting, I get to go out and play with my girlfriend!! Will just like a proper date. Mum took me and Percy out to the Combined Training too, which was quite exciting with an unexpected result, I did knuckle down in the warm up but it was quite distracting trying to do dressage while everyone is watching and whooping it up in the show jumping in the next room! I just couldn’t help but try to peek over the door, still the upshot was I got a better dressage result than the Diva, he hasn’t spoken to me since and blames his cough, although mum said he never coughed once in his test, I just had one fence down, it was a bit small, and I stopped at the same jump as Percy, it was just a bit loud and scary as you came off the corner, but once I had sussed it, it was as easy as pie. Percy just had the one stop so did get himself in the ribbons while I was just outside the placings, still I have ribbed him about my 66% since. Next stop for me is a spot of show jumping, I will spend the next week practising ‘The Ryan Technique’ and have a go for real in a proper ring. Ta ta for now, and will blog you all soon. B xx

Hi
Ruby here. Good to see you blogging again. I had a bit of a fright the other night. Went for an unaccompanied wander round the yard to catch up on things (silly owners had left my door open), tip-toed over to say hello to you and was amazed to find you’d grown and changed colour! Bit confusing really seeing as you look your usual self in the field. Anyway, that would explain it, it was Bob that I had brief chat with before I was recaptured. Just about managed to introduce myself!
I think mum is having delusions of grandeur dragging me off jumping to this new person. She’s very local and is a nice lady really. Says she’s got me “sussed” whatever that means. Hasn’t got me that “sussed” as I still managed to eject mum on one of our lessons. Ha. It’s good fun pretending to be (ooops I mean being) terrified of these funny filler things they expect us to jump. I got found out yesterday though. Of course I’d been telling Chloe about how easy this jumping lark was and how I was sailing over 1.30 oxers and they only took both of us for a lesson yesterday didn’t they? I had to tell Chloe I’d only jumped so small yesterday so as to spare her blushes by showing her how easy it is …
Talking of embarrassment I did hear about your big score at dressage the other week. Between you and me, Percy is most put out about it. He whispered it to Chloe over the fence, who, despite swearing to him she’d not tell a soul, let slip to me as I am her bestest friend and I told the whole yard. Ha ha ha!!!! Don’t tell him it was me though. Pip’s getting the blame for gossiping at the moment.
Anyway, off for a kip now. I am a bit tired after my jumping lesson this weekend (had to jump a water tray – I’ve done them before but like to pretend they are soooo scarey), plus dad took me for a hack and we had a canter in a big field which was nice. Oh and I hear a rumour we may be in the summer fields tomorrow so if I have a rest now I should have enough energy to yee ha all over the place tomorrow.
Love Ruby

Hey! Why do I get all the blame for everything – I’m the soul of dissgr..dizgrech….. oh stud holes! you know what I mean anyway! I CAN keep a secret if I really have to. I’m feeling rather full having been on the new grass. My mum says it makes me silly, and I cant have too much to start with. Don’t know what she means. Cant get much sillier than her after drinking the bottle of champagne I won her at the dressage champs the other week. And to cap it all, I got a smacked bottom at the weekend – honestly, one minute she wants me to bounce around the dressage arena like anky wotserface, but if I do it out on a hack its wrong! I cant help it if the hedges are full of killer pheasants (they’re all full of themselves now the shooting season has finished. Just you wait till next autumn HAHA!) I had a week off the other week – mum said that huntings finished now, and I needed a break… god I was sooo bored! I had a really nice session with a lady who did things to my muscles and back which made me feel lovely and bouncy, but I didn’t actually get to go anywhere. Whats the point of a holiday if you don’t go anywhere? Anyway Ruby, if you get to go AWOL again, just pop up to my box – I have the most JUCIEST piece of gossip about Lawrence Lewellyn-wotsit in the box opposite. He toldd me (in confidence) that he once…. ooo I really shouldn’t say – I did promise him I wouldn’t tell anyone…….Tee-hee!!!!!!!!!x
